Our Story by our founder, Amanda Kay
My name is Amanda Kay, and I’m the baker behind this little cottage bakery in Arlington, Texas.
Baking has been a thread woven through my family for generations. My great-grandmother, Mamoo, was known for her desserts. Every time family gathered, she made sure everyone had their favorite waiting for them. This was her way of saying, “I love you” to each of us.
That same love carried through my grandmother, my great-aunt, and my mother, women who poured care and intention hinto their kitchens and taught me that homemade is how we show up for the people we love.
And now, it lives on through me in Thursday.
After years of struggling with autoimmune illness and learning to nourish my family with ingredients we could trust, I started baking again. This time with a new purpose.
I wanted to recreate my Mamoo’s recipes. The kind of desserts that connected generations… but with simple, organic ingredients and options that everyone could enjoy, including those (us) who eat gluten-free.
So I opened The Thursday Bakery. Named for the day that always felt like the bridge between the busy and the beautiful. The day the week starts to slow, and we gather again around the table. The day Jesus broke bread with His disciples in the last supper.
Every loaf of sourdough, every cookie, every sweet moment that leaves this kitchen is made by hand and prayed over with heart.
We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)
And my hope is that every Thursday, through every fresh baked item, someone feels a little bit more of that love.
